h a p p y b i r t h d a y S i n g a p o r e!

the year ones must be disillusioned.
in pri sch, national day celebration always succeed in making us filled with national pride
until it overflows when we sing those patriotic songs =) (they fill our bags with gifts and sweets too!)
the flag raising ceremony in sch always seems so grand.
in sec sch, the ceremony doesnt feel so grand anymore.
those same songs are sung in a different tone.
the mock fire drill was someth new this year.
but i feel more can be done to revive the lion spirit in sch!
SC we can try harder and make the students look forward to nxt year's national day celebration right?

this national day was memorable cause of the netball marathon!
in lieu with national day, (Singapore netball association?)organised a 24 hour 4 on 4 netball marathon.
The Senior high netball team was 3 person short of forming 2 teams so i was invited to join =)
Jie xin, Siu Li, Xumei, Soo leng, Pei Ying
and I am team STAR,
the other team is team cresent.
our first match is at 5pm, against extreme greenview3. we won!( but they look like sec1s and i thk they are sec1s )
we went to eat KFC.met sherm cyn n yuhan n a guy dere =)
we waited for the next match at 8pm. Sherm Cyn n YH came to support =)
but we lost by one point =(

aft playing bball for years, netball which i presumed was easily to play turned out to be HARDER!
there are a thousand and one rules to follow and the empires were as strict as the empress dowager!

1) fingernails -i had to cut them twice to satisfy the queen-.-
2) whistles- i find the empires obsessed with whistling. practically blowing the whistle every few secs.
3)stepping- unlike bball which u can take 2.9999999 steps, u cant move ur pivot foot an inch aft it touches the ground, unless its in the air. as in unless u stand like a flamingo on one leg.
4)lines- ur feet have to follow the line when you do a throw in, but not touching the line.
i was blown 5 times for not following the line.
5) contact- this is the most difficult transition btwn nball and bball. you cant touch ur opponet.
your feet need to be 3feet away before you can raise up ur hands to attempt to block her.
if u raise ur hands before u move back and even though when u realised n u moved back,
you still get blown and have to stand by her side to watch her pass or worse still WATCH her shoot.
its so hard not to obstuct your opponents route -.-
6)blood policy. -if u are bleeding, you have to clean up before you can play agn.
8)
9)
10)
1001)
=)

aft the 8pm match, Peiying Sooleng and I went starbucks.
THERE IS A SUPER CUTE GUY.
no matter how nice and cute other guys are, my heart is only as big as my fist and with you inside there is no space left for anybody.

our nxt match is at 10.15.
thats my sleeping time =(
we were totally thrashed 19-0.
our opponents, actually most of the netballers there were so TTT (tall and toned and thin.)

as our next match is 2.15am, we went for some midnight shopping =)
we washed up and layed our slping mats and 10 of us squeezed and tried our best to gain some slp amidst the WHISTLING. (as it was held outside suntec tower 1, our slping area was all around the courts.)

we slpt while matches were gg on.

TTT!

I cant imagine myself waking up at 1.45am to warm up for a netball match.
but we did.
we drew with our opponent, 3-3. it was a waste, we cud hv won.

we played cards
and aft which we attempted to rest agn.
We were all sticky and smelling and tired.
I began to feel like a nomad.
so jealous of those teams who brought TENTS

it was a physical and mental test for us to wake up at 4.45am for another round of warm ups.
XUMEI was so hilarious.
throughout the whole warm up she was in a "log off" mode.
her face was expressionless and actions were slow and wierd.
laughing at her made us high and woke us up ;)

we lost that match agnst pierce sec.

our last match is at 7.15 so we have about another hour to rest.
at 6.30, the weather sudd turned frm cold to freezing.
the wind began to blow and i thought mother earth wanted to give snow to Spore as a bday prez.
it was about to rain but we were too tired to wake up so we juz lay there until we felt raindrops.
i really felt like a savanger, resettling in the rain into some shelter outside the shopping mall.
we built a dome and it least it protected us frm the rain.

we moved into the shopping centre and we were so tired that we made it our home.
we sleep on the floor of the shopping centre -.-

match resumed at 8.30.
aft that we went to queue for the donuts at the donut factory!
den we went to queue for the nd goodybag.
at carrefour, there was this stn gving out free goodybag with any purchase.
we were queueing behind this woman who collected 7 goody bag!
when peiying said aloud that she doesnt want some items inside,
the woman immediately said she would love to have them -.-
in the end, she had 9 goody bags!
means 8 other ppl couldnt get one.
my senior were the 501 customer and she didnt get the goody bag.
is this the singaporean spirit?

netball association was so kind to gv us each a bag and some muscle ache creams inside.
they provided facial wash and shampoo as well.
they knew that aft one sleepless night of netball marathon,
we wud all suffer frm ache and fatigue and wud be sticky dirty and smelling.
how thoughtful =)

we were finally dismissed at 11am, and we began our slow trudge home.
i was so tired that i looked for paya lebah stn at the red line. -.-

this netball marathon was really an unforgettable experience.
although it was a grueling night,
i had a whale of time playing netball,
i love the explicit teamwork and speed this sport encourages..
i really had much fun was my seniors too=)
they are really kind and lovely =)

i woke up just in time for ndp 07
it was the nicest ndp in 16years!

this national day ignited something in my heart.
living in luxury and comfort, alot of us take Singapore for granted.

不要问新加坡能为你做什么, 问你能为她做什么.

i love this song!

Will you

Will You make this island
Amazing in all ways?
Surprises every corners,
Delightful nights and days.

Will you take this country
And turn it from a place
To a home that greets you
With smiles on every face?

Will you come on this brave journey?
Will you help to make it real?
Will you write us grand new stories,
Songs that everyone will feel?

So... Will you swim the current?
Will you scale new heights?
Will you make it happen,
Will you let your dreams take flight?
And... Will you make the difference?
Will you seize the day?
Will you live each moment,
Will you dare to find new ways?

Will you take this city
And turn it from a place
To a home that greets you
With smiles on every face

Dare to find, dare to find, dare to find new ways!

WILL YOU?
happy birthday Singapore!
