LG ppl pardon me for stealing stuff from ur blog!!

Liang zhi: I’m glad I’m sticking to the 15day thing, and I really hope that I can make it 15years instead of 15days.

Yuru (pls enable ur copy pastr function! i had to type out every word!)

some interesting verses from mark 1-8..

Mark 3:29.
But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven;
he is guilty of an eternal sin.

i totally did not und this verse..
as far as i knw, if we confess our sins and repent,
all sins will be forgiven.

i asked ryan,

http://pandastare.wordpress.com/

"So after researching a bit (read: googled) I realised that this verse has caused a lot of worrying by some people who were afraid they might have accidentally committed such a sin. But after reading through some write ups on this verse, the main point I took home was that such a sin is possible (although the bible never mentions anyone guilty of it) but the fact is that Jesus forgives all sins and blasphemies (verse 28). The only problem is if you reached a stage where you choose to ignore the holy spirit and deny it, then you deny the cause of forgiveness and thus cannot be forgiven (to understand this further, you problably need to read up more on the role of the holy spirit in forgiveness). To what extent this must happen, noone really knows, but rest assured, if you are worried and are seeking forgiveness, then Jesus will forgive.

im more at ease aft reading it XD

Mark 8

Jesus feeds the 4000. Previously, Jesus fed 5000. Now, He feeds 4000.
why did He have to do the same miracle twice?
Same with the story of the Healing of a Blind Man.
Jesus could have just healed him from his blindness one time, but instead, He did it twice.
anyone knows why?

aft reading the first few para or rachel's blog & before i scream for Ryan,
i went to do some research on the net!

Gospel of Mark: What is the Significance?

The Gospel of Mark presents many important facts and significant lessons. First, it clearly establishes that Jesus Christ is the Messiah that was prophesied throughout the Old Testament. Second, it proves that Jesus was the Son of God, whom He claimed to be by living a sinless and perfect life. Third, the Gospel records Jesus' miracles over nature (calming the storm; 4:37-41, walking on water; 6:48-51, and withering the fig tree; 11:12-14). His miracles also include healing many people, including Peter's mother-in-law (1:30-31), the paralyzed man (2:3-12), the woman with bleeding (5:25-29), and the deaf mute (7:31-37). Jesus also displayed miracle powers over death by raising Jairus's daughter from the dead (5:37-39). The most important fact in the Gospel of Mark is the evidence that Jesus Christ overcame the power of death through His resurrection from the tomb. He proved that there is no power that can overcome Him, that He is the authority to forgive the sins of people, and that He is the One and only Son of God. Lastly, Jesus gives people perfect instructions for how God desires people to live, respond through challenging circumstances, and make choices regarding their future for eternity. A few examples of these include having faith (Mark 2:5), replacing fear with trust (Mark 4:40), believing in the power of God (Mark 5:36), following Christ (Mark 8:35), understanding God's will (Mark 9:35), and sacrifices (Mark 10:21). Every word spoken and written in this Gospel can be applied to life in a practical manner. Of course, a summary of this Gospel can only provide highlights to the actual text and cannot replace it. You are encouraged to read the Gospel to learn more about Jesus Christ.

What is the purpose of the gospel of Mark?

The purpose of the gospel of Mark is purely and simply an announcement of the words and works of Jesus. It is the shortest of all the gospels which would have suited the simple, straightforward approach the Romans favored. In his work, Mark gives reference to the Old Testament only once, again this would have suited his readership knowing that they had little or no knowledge of the Old Testament.

Rachel i hope i answered some of ur queries..

http://www.biblestudylessons.com/mark/
this is another gd website..

for eg.
Why did jesus have to heal the blind man in 2 stages when he could heal him in immediately?

consider the situation of the blind man.

While blind, he saw absolutely nothing. When Jesus first touched him,
his vision improved: he saw men, though they looked like trees.
To one who had been totally blind, that was fantastic progress.

But Jesus could do more−−He touched the man again and he began to see perfectly. Unfortunately, in the spiritual realm, some are satisfied with one touch.
They see, but not clearly. Many don't even realize that they need a complete cure,
that they should not be content to see men like trees walking.

Let's check out our own lives. Could it be that we still are not seeing clearly and that Jesus
could restore our vision perfectly?

n from mark9...
why did God rebuff Peter?

God's rebuff of Peter's suggestion to construct three tabernacles
teaches volumes.
The problem with Peter's plan was that it put Jesus on the same level as Moses

and Elijah. He isn't. Jesus is above everyone−−in this case,
above the greatest figures of the Old
Testament era.
Our problem is like Peter's.
We often tend to build multiple tabernacles.
One for Jesus
and one for our parents.
Or one for Jesus and another for our pastor, for our church,
or for a favorite
activity.
This won't do. Jesus must have the only tabernacle;
He must be the supreme authority in our
life. Nothing else can be on a par with Him.

& this leads to the very famous verse in chapter 8:34-36
Rachel agn "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?" - Vs 34-36.

what does it really mean to pick up your cross?
i guess it's to surrender everything. your troubles, worries..everything!
the things of this world are transitory and to me, by gaining the whole world,
it means like.. fulfilling people's standards.
gaining the world, may mean like.. worldly wealth. or popularity etc.
in the case of popularity, to find favor in everyone's eyes, by doing the wrong stuff, it's just.. no good.
people want to gain popularity and stuff to fill that void in their hearts. and they will find that whatever they do, the void in their hearts just won't be filled because only Jesus can make us whole. So lesson learnt: Follow Jesus. not the world.

agree!
